Welcome to Black Walnut Lane (BWL). Our farm is a family owned and operated agricultural enterprise that raises sheep, lamb and beef for farms and families near Hamilton, Ontario.
We raise purebred & heritage Sheep and purebred Dexter & Angus Cattle. We are directly affiliated with farms raising Wild Boar, free-range Chicken, Rabbit & Bison. We keep Llamas as guard animals.
All animals (lamb, beef, boar/pork and bison) are fed locally grown grains and hay, including oats, barley, corn and soybean, plus locally grown corn silage and haylage.
The animals are raised with care, delivered stress free – directly from the farms, to the local Provincially Inspected butchers, hung, cut, vacuum packed and deep frozen.
No hormones or antibiotics are used in the raising of these meat products; no nitrates, dyes or preservatives are added to the meats.
We sell our products directly to the public at The Hamilton Farmers Market – come visit us at the Black Walnut Lane Farm Kitchen & Shoppe (lower level) Thurs. & Fri. (10am-6pm), & Sat. (8am-4pm).
BWL supports the Canadian Sheep and Cattle Industry by providing educational information, farm learning visits and by producing quality fresh Ontario lamb and beef for families, stores and restaurants.
As part of our commitment to our community, we strive to educate people about farming, agriculture and the value & health benefits of being a “locavore”. This includes a Farm Visit Educational Program for children 5 and up (though you might be surprised at the number of adults who inquire about this).
